Other programs provide short term interventions to help young people learn new skills, improve attendance, gain academic skills, connect to resources in the community, and/or improve behavior. They work with young people through their school engagement programs at the local Stamford high schools and middle schools, helping students acquire the social and emotional skills, attitudes, and habits needed to graduate high school and enroll and engage in post-secondary or obtain employment on the path to self-sufficient income, and through their workforce development programs where young people gain the skills necessary to obtain employment and avoid reincarceration. Domus serves approximately 1,000 Stamford youth aged 12 to 25 who, at enrollment, are either disengaged or disconnected. Domus builds loving relationships with young people facing adversity, empowering them to pursue their path to self-sufficiency. Since 1972, Domus has helped thousands of our region’s most vulnerable youth and their families experience success. ![]() We will begin on 11/13 with a short introduction to Domus' work to familiarize volunteers with the social issues Domus programs address. If you cannot attend but would like to donate much needed food by Friday, 11/12, please email Torrance York for collection locations in Greenwich, New Canaan or Westport. Please indicate ages of youth participants on the registration form. Children 10 and older are welcome to participate. Please see the list of preferred food items here. Over 400 families will choose which preassembled bag they need. Volunteers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for everyday and/or Thanksgiving.
